Last week, the Calnex team travelled to Space Tech Expo in Bremen, Germany.
This was the first time that Calnex has exhibited at this event and it certainly seemed to live up to the claim to be Europe’s largest B2B Space Event. It runs over three days, but I think you would struggle to cover everything in that time.
Whether you were looking to find out about the latest developments in rocket propellants and satellite construction or seeking ways to validate how applications or services will perform over satcoms networks (our area of specialisation) there was a supplier to provide a solution.
Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of talk about the need for European countries to ramp up their sovereign satellite network capacity and capabilities and we certainly had some meaningful discussions about how to our network emulators, which their ability to create realistic test satellite (LEO, GEO, MEO, VSAT, etc.) and NTN environments on demand, could help organisations ensure that their applications and services were Satellite Network-Ready.
Away from business talk, it was wonderful to get the chance to play on a genuine Space Invaders console which took me right back to my student days where, some might say I wasted too much time in the student union bar trying to get a decent score. Sadly, I have lost the speed of reactions I had in my early 20s, but it was still great fun to give it a go one more time.
And, of course, it isn’t every day that you get a couple of Star Wars Stormtroopers dropping by the stand to pick up a pair of our novelty space socks!

We look forward to next year. Who knows who we will meet then!
In the meantime, if you would like to find out how Calnex can help de-risk the deployment of applications and services over satellite networks, please visit our satellite solutions page: https://calnexsol.com/solutions/emulating-ntn-satellite-networks/
