Elizabeth Seward
CEO | SuperSharp Space Systems
Elizabeth is the CEO of SuperSharp, a spin-out company from the University of Cambridge developing ultra-high-resolution thermal infrared imaging solutions with transformative applications in precision agriculture, urban decarbonization, and global security.
Previously at BAE Systems as the Head of Space Strategy, Elizabeth was responsible for defining the strategic direction and market growth opportunities across defence and civil space for the organisation. Prior to this she has had varied roles at Airbus Defence and Space, starting as a spacecraft engineer before moving into communications, marketing, business development and strategy.
Also an angel investor in the HERmesa syndicate, Elizabeth supports female founded or co-founded companies with a focus is on deep-tech or space related startups-ups. Her work with start-up organisations includes reviewing investment opportunities, advising companies and representing an LP on a VC Advisory Board.
Elizabeth is an advocate for diversity across the Space sector and was a founding member of the Women in Aerospace Europe UK local group. She is active in the International Astronautical Federation, sitting on several committees. As a STEM outreach ambassador, Elizabeth has presented to groups and schools, and has made appearances as a space expert in various media.
Elizabeth’s career has taken her around the world, from designing rovers as a summer student at Caltech to presenting on an aircraft carrier in New York harbour. A highlight was demonstrating the European Space Agency’s ExoMars Rover, Rosalind Franklin, to the late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
Elizabeth has an MPhys degree in Physics with Space Science & Technology from the University of Leicester.
